Abstract

Nel libro di J.D.G. Dunn che qui analizziamo si avverte il profondo rispetto dell’autore per il testo biblico e la forte convinzione del suo significato intramontabile. A nostro avviso, tuttavia, qualcosa relativizza la prospettiva del libro di Dunn: sebbene, venga respinto radicalmente il fondamentalismo biblico, l’autore rimane molto lontano da quanto esprimeva già sant’Agostino riguardo alla perenne e crescente attualità delle stesse parole evangeliche quando sono accostate attraverso un’esegesi che le mantenga vive nell’alveo della Tradizione.

In the book we analyze, we feel the author’s deep respect for the biblical text as well as his profound conviction of its perennial relevance. However, in our opinion there is something that relativizes the perspective of the author: although he radically rejects biblical fundamentalism, he remains very far from what Saint Augustine expressed regarding the perennial and growing relevance of the evangelical words when they are approached through an exegesis that keeps them alive in the bed of Tradition.
