Thomas Aquinas has a positive vision of the material created reality. Therefore, at first glance, his thesis that the identity between the earthly and resurrected body is founded solely on the continuity of the spiritual soul may seem surprising, as Ratzinger points out, noting some objections to the hylemorphic model that is at the basis of the formula anima forma corporis. In fact, it helps to illuminate the question a deepening of the notions of corporeitas and veritas naturae humanae, as posed by Aquinas. These notions show a certain harmony with some proposals of contemporary theology.
