Abstract

Synodality puts down its roots in the co-responsibility of the baptized in the mission of the Church and in the common priesthood of the faithful. Secondarily, synodality is figured out in the participation of the faithful in government, generally as a consultative function. The non-dialectical distinction between deliberative and consultative sheds light in the specificity of ecclesial government, while helping to consider the richness of the forms of co-responsibility. The purpose of each synodal action determines its best manifestation: its juridical profile contributes to forming it.
