Abstract

This study examines the notion of religiosity in Jean Daniélou’s thought, from both a phenomenological and a theological perspective. The theological approach, in particular, allows us to justify a concept of “authentic religion” as an adequate response to the cosmic revelation with which God manifests himself to man. Authentic religiosity appears as a possibility always offered to every man by God of a salvific encounter, while recognising the objective fullness of grace and truth given in the event of Christ. The theological reflection on religiosity, based on Daniélou’s thought, allows interesting clarifications on the distinction between religion and religions and between religion and revelation.
