Une grise nuée. À propos du livre de Bernhard Blankenhorn sur la mystique dionysienne de l’union à Dieu chez Albert le Grand et Thomas d’Aquin

Abstract

B. Blankenhorn étudie de façon systématique et détaillée la réception et l’interprétation de l’enseignement mystique de Denys chez saint Albert le Grand et saint Thomas d’Aquin en les éclairant par le contexte d’ensemble de leur philosophie et de leur théologie. Corrigeant certaines interprétations modernes, il montre que selon saint Thomas l’union à Dieu ici-bas consiste essentiellement dans la mise en oeuvre des vertus théologales et reste de bout en bout une activité noétique centrée sur la Révélation accueillie dans la foi.

B. Blankenhorn studies in a systematic and detailed fashion the reception and the  interpretation of Dionysius’ mystical teachings in the works of St. Albert the Great and St. Thomas Aquinas, inserting them in the general context of their philosophy and their theology. Correcting some modern interpretations, his research shows that according to St. Thomas union with God here on earth essentially consists in the living out of the theological virtues, and remains from the beginning to the end a noetic activity centered in Revelation received in faith.
